A Public Service Announcement
***Now, be warned, this is a pretty graphic post. If you are even a tiny bit squeamish than proceed no further.
Last week I noticed a very ithcy red bump come up on my back. I've never had skin problems so I didn't pay much attention to it. I probably touched it way too much, and over the next few days it got more irritated and itchy. Irritation and itchiness turned into swelling and pain. Swelling and pain turned into a boil... or as l like to call it-Satan taking up residence inches from my spine. If you ever think you might be getting one of these happy little friends on your person DO NOT attempt to pop it yourself- or let anyone else do it for that matter. In my case, what I should have done was put warm, wet compresses on it several times a day so that the infection to come to the surface and drain in its own time. Instead C and I performed our own home surgery involving a heated up safety pin. Like the vacuum hair trimmer, this was a VERY bad idea. It caused an even worse infection that I had to go to a dermatologist to have taken care of today. I'm going to spare you the more graphic portion of my morning and just reiterate... DO NOT poke your own boils. If it is extremely painful do not wait to seek proper medical attention. Now I'm on the gauze and antibiotics train and out of the pool for weeks. How lame is that?

Since I'm into retro style I probably like a thicker brow than most (think Elizabeth Taylor). I strongly feel that over-plucking or drawing in makes one look... very severe. I'm sorry ladies but I've got two words for you. Christina Aguilera. There I've said it.
